Bay Fishing Lodge

At Castaway Lodge, we believe the best days are the ones spent outdoors with the people who matter most. Nestled along 700 feet of quiet bayou waterfront in Seadrift, Texas, our lodge was built on the idea that comfort, connection, and good old-fashioned hospitality are just as important as the fish you reel in.

Our story began long before the lodge itself. In 1993, Capt. Kris Kelley started guiding the waters around Seadrift and Port O’Connor with a passion for sharing the magic of the Texas Mid-Coast. Along with his wife and co-founder Wendi, their passion eventually grew into Castaway Lodge, which opened in 2007 as a place where families, friends, and newcomers to the outdoors could feel welcome, cared for, and part of something special.  In 2014 they began an expansion which double their capacity and tripled the grounds encompassing a large section of Haley’s Bayou.  In 2019, they formed Castaway Youth Charities supporting local youth and raising money for various youth oriented groups locally.

In October of 2025 we proudly  welcomed Capt. Chris Nobles as our General Manager.  Chris has been with us in the guide ranks for 3 years and brings renewed energy, seasoned leadership, and a genuine love for the coastal lifestyle. His hands-on approach, friendly personality, and commitment to hospitality make him a natural fit for our lodge family. As Chris helps guide daily operations, he works closely with Kris and Wendi to preserve the traditions and values that have defined Castaway Lodge for nearly two decades.

Our 3.5-acre waterfront campus includes comfortable lodging, wide porches, fire-pit lounges, and plenty of space for families and groups to relax together. Through the years we’ve grown, but the heart behind what we do hasn’t changed: take care of people, treat guests like family, and make sure every trip is one you’ll remember.

Our guides are experienced, patient, and passionate about helping everyone—from kids and first-timers to seasoned anglers—have a great time on the water. Whether you’re casting for trout and redfish at sunrise, sharing stories around the fire, or enjoying a hearty, home-style meal, we want your time here to feel genuine and easy.

Castaway Lodge has become a tradition for many families who return year after year, and we’re honored to be part of those memories. With Kris and Wendi’s continued leadership and Chris’s fresh perspective, we’re excited for the years ahead and look forward to welcoming you into our lodge family.
