We’re getting a grip on the calendar as we push “all in” into fishing now that duck season is closed.  Between, you, me, the fish, and a fence post I think we’re going to have to figure out where we are on the calendar “seasonality” wise.  I was talking to Colin over at Dick’s Grocery Store here in Seadrift and he said the same thing regarding looking for Big Trout down South.  With no real Winter weather, we’ll have to look for a quick emergence of “warm water” patterns and truth be told, I’m hearing way to much “topwater” chatter already for early February.  Mud/grass in deeper back lakes, swales, and bowls are producing Trout on topwater presently and that’s very advanced on the calendar.  So stay tuned for any hints we might uncover as we move forward.

Capt. Chris Cady reported mixing schools of Redfish and Black Drum working mud/grass while Airboat Redfishing on Saturday with the Shannon C. party.  He reported the bite to be sluggish working bait. Capt. Donnie Heath and Sam took the day off from the construction schedule and enjoyed some tight lines and solid Redfish with a mix of Black Drum working structure.  Hats off to these hard workers for keeping us well ahead of our development objectives.  It’s going to be a big year with lots of fun.
