Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report

Persistent high water has led to growing schools of foraging Redfish working shallow over mud/grass flats. Fishing in the rain has proved productive with all boats taking near to full limits of solid Redfish pushing the upper edge of the slot. Weather has been really pleasant with showers ever present but the lightning and thunder have been a no show. That’s kept things on the cool side as our next cold front approaches. Deep back marsh looked pretty thin of late with airboat trips getting a good look in ultra shallow regions of the back lakes.
Alligator Hunting
Constant inland flooding has continued to challenge us on the Alligator hunting with creeks and bayous “running” and increasingly difficult logistics, a condition we’re not real fond of. We missed an 8-10′ opportunity the other day but managed to pull 4 out of 5 that we were after the last couple of days. The guides will be working even harder as we head to the close of the season with a cool snap approaching.
