Redfish action continues strong as Capt. Chris Cady noted over the big holiday with full limits for guests. Mud/grass venues remain the go to with elevated tides opening up some hot spots. September is a month of transitions in terms of approach and bait choices will begin to vary with artificial approaches moving on the upswing in effectiveness. Topwaters will once again be a go to as water temperatures begin to cool a bit and hungry Trout and Redfish work the upper end of the water column looking for groceries.
Grain Season Hog – Off The Charts
Night Vision Spot N Stalk has been going well with lots of hogs being taken over recently harvested grain fields. Get yours today, contact us for details.
Flounder Gigging Trips – Now Available
This is ton of fun and my guides are the best at getting you in the action. We conduct our trips fully guided over hard bottom shorelines in shin deep or less water using the latest gigs with built-in LED lighting. So from beginner to advanced, we can get you on the fish and have you gigging like a pro in no time. Pricing for up to 3 is $500; 4 is $600 if you would like to stay and the lodge the pricing is $275 per person for a party of 3; and $250 per person for 4. Contact us for scheduling.
Texas Alligator Season Opener – 09/10
Well, it looks to be a rough opener on par with 2008 when we were deluged with rain. Hopefully the weatherman is off on the forecast but we shall see. Please bring rubber boots just in case. We’ve got our eye on some solid gators so if you haven’t got your slot, get with us asap.
Teal Season Opener – 09/12
The Blue-Winged bullets from the North are here! The season opener looks to have plenty of fast action and when you combine that with some rod bending action on the bays afterwards, it just doesn’t get any better.
Speaking of Waterfowl, check out these great mounts that Jordan H. had done after the season from birds collected while hunting with us last year…That’s Waterfowl Crazy Right There!
Waterfowl Dates Set
As expected, the State has elected to open the Regular Texas Duck Season on October 31st and wrap up the first split on November 29th. The Season will re-open on December 12th and run through January 24th. The big news it seems, the State’s framework has taken the Dark Goose Season one week past duck season closing on January 31st. That’s huge.

We were recently featured in the Delta Waterfowl 2015 Annual with an article penned by our friend and former Editor of Wildfowl Magazine, Mr. Worth Mathewson. It’s title Lone Star Layout, check it out at Article
Increasing Value For Our Guests
We’ve also been busy working on goals and dreams of improving and expanding the lodge foot print and have purchased a beautiful piece of property in our immediate vacinity that backs to a bayou. Shortly, we’ll be taking full advantage of its attributes while developing it and look forward to bringing our guests more value and an even more engaging visit. This is a goal that has been sometime in the making and we will have more to say on the “development details” at a later date. We would like to also thank the Mayor of Seadrift, Mr. Elmer DeForest and The Director of Public Works, Mr. Robert Bryant for their support of our growth initiatives. We look forward to supporting their efforts to improve Seadrift’s economy, beauty, and hospitality.
Come see us when you get a chance.
