Outstanding action while working fallouts, pool, bayou mouths, and bayous themselves on primarily low water hunting fallout Trout, Redfish and Black Drum.  The Trout took some doing by boat with multiple drifts bouncing soft plastics off mud and scattered shell bottoms on a bay draining North wind.  Pumpkin/chart and plumb/chart accounted for most of the fish.  On Redfish and Black Drum, shrimp and mullet have been producing; blue crab has been shut down with the crab trap clean-up but is expected back online here shortly.

While bay conditions have been on extreme low water, we’re already getting a bounceback with the Southerly wind directions and increasing velocity.  That’s going to bring us back into “normal” range.  This ebb and blow of “water levels” not tides is something we pay attention to, shift, and adjust accordingly.  March, I’ve a feeling, will feel more like late April in terms of seasonality and who knows what to expect.  I mean, are we talking about slinging croaks in the first of April?  Who knows, but one thing is for certain, the calendar is shifting and we’ll be the first to sense it.
