**Fishing Report**

August fishing to date has seen elevated winds similar to a drought cycle. We’ve seen little rain fall and no sign of any Tropical developments thus far. Boat fishing has been waning with wade fishing saving the day for many guests. Sometimes there can be a big disparity in productivity relative to the style. I’m often asked “how’s the fishing”? That’s seldom ever a straight yes or no answer. Sometimes, the answer is relative to the style of fishing. My answer might be something like “boat fishing for Redfish is off the charts; or, wade fishing is going really well, etc.” Here in August we’ve had to get as many guests in the water as possible on higher winds and that has been producing Trout limits with a few Redfish on most outings. On the boat fishing scene, things have been slower with the guides beating there heads against a brick wall. Redfish have been very scattered, “hit and miss” with a lot more missing than hitting this Summer.

**Redfish Catalysts – Low Water**

We’re seeing the signs of Fall Redfishing starting to come together here on low water heading toward September. Capt. Terry Spoonemore reported solid action on fish in tough places the past few days. Low water has them balled up but they’re hanging in and around scattered oyster shell bottoms and that’s making for a lot of break-offs.

**Primer**

We’ll be looking for Tropical developments and early cool snaps to really spring board the fishing moving into September, October, and November. With winds switching off predominant Southerly directions, we’ll be flipping targets on their ear or backwards as we like to say. North wind sets are always fun in changing conditions. While bait fishing will always be in vogue on boat fishing trips, we’ll also start switching over to artificial on wade fishing trips with topwater action sparking off as water temperatures start to come down a tad.

**Alligator/Dove/Teal**

Now is the time to fill the few holes in our schedule for big Texas lizards. We’ve still got some openings during weekdays with 9/13 and 14 along with 9/26-28 as dates to AVOID. Early White Wing Season 9/1-2 and 09/7-8 from noon to sunset will kick off Dove Season with the regular season opening 09/14. These present some awesome Cast & Blast opportunities. Teal season opens on 11/14 and runs through the 29th and we’ll be looking to slip last minute guests into early weekday dates for Cast & Blast trips. **November Fishing**

September and October and pretty near booked to the limit although some early weekday dates are still possible. Duck season opens 11/2 but we’ll still have opportunities for large scale fishing in November through December. Take advantage of cooling temperatures to get your clients and friends and family on the water.
